Life skill capacity building ensures that people with disabilities acquire the necessary skills, resources, and confidence to effectively communicate with others and access opportunities on par with everyone else.
These life skills primarily include cooking, budgeting and money management, nutrition and healthy living, communication, social skills, social-emotional counselling, transportation training, and anger management. These services are designed to be flexible, enjoyable, and provided in a friendly environment. They can be offered individually at home or in group sessions where individuals with similar disabilities learn together in a community setting.
At Metro We Care in Perth, WA, our life skill capacity-building support programs are designed to foster independence among individuals with disabilities. We encourage personal decision-making and active participation in daily activities at home and within the community. Our person-centred approach and tailored support plans prioritise each individual’s unique needs and well-being. Our support partners facilitate effective coordination between the disabled person, their family (or guardian), and their social environment. We believe that learning and practicing life skills empower individuals with disabilities to lead independent lives.
We prioritise safety to sustain our organisation’s activities. In this regard, we ensure the protection of privacy by prioritising the prevention of any unauthorised circulation of personal data.
